  • Synonyms – Amlaki (आम्लकी), Dhatri (धात्री), Aamvla (आँवला), Aamal (आमल), Nelli (नेल्ली), Aula (औला)
  • English Name – Emblic myrobalan/ Indian gooseberry.
  • Morphological Description –
  1. Small to medium sized tree with greenish grey or red bark with alternate, pinnate small leaves.  amla-tree-sm
  2. Height :- 8-18 mtr.
  3. Flowering :- Feb. to May
  4. Fruiting :- Oct. to Apr.
  5. Flowers :- Small, inconspicuous, greenish- yellow flowers.                                          Borne in compact clusters in axile of lower leaves.
  6. Fruit :- Pale yellow, fleshy with 6 obscure vertical furrow. It is about 2 cm in diameter.
