Morphological Description :-

Bibhitak Tree
  • Large tree having height 20- 35 m.
  • Leaves :- Simple, alternate, long petioled and clutered at the end of branchelets.
  • Flowers:- Small, dirty-grey with strong offensive smell, found in axillary spikes.
  • Fruits :- Ovoid, grey, velvety drupes, contains single stony hard seed.
  • Flowering :- March to May.
  • Fruiting :- December to February.

  • Fruits :- Chebulagic acid, ellagic acid, fructose, galactose, glucose , manintol, rhamanose etc.
  • Bark :- Chebulagic acid, ellagic acid
  • Seed coat :- Gallic acid.
