Chennai: Students applying for AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) under-graduation courses have to appear for NEET from this academic year, said Health Minister C Vijayabaskar.
It should have been put in place since last year. But now, with NEET being mandated, students opting for AYUSH courses should take up the entrance test, he said.
The Health Minister was speaking at the Egmore Institute of Child Health on Friday, where he inaugurated a creche for ICH, Government Ophthalmic Hospital and the Institute of Obstetrics and Gynaecology employees’ children.
Vijayabaskar said the new medical college in Karur would have 150 seats and that the State has received order for adding 250 additional seats in Tirunelveli medical college.
