Ayurvedic Doctors want segregation of Medical Officers under AYUSH.

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 3 (MExN):

The Ayurvedic Doctor’s Association of Nagaland (ADAN) has drawn the attention of the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, (DH&FW) Nagaland to the advertisement via office order no NHM/B-35/HR/2016-17/777 Dated 12th July 2019 for appointment of 3 Medical Officer (AYUSH) under State Health Society National Health Mission of which interview was held on August 2, 2019.

Media cell, ADAN in an open letter to the Assistant Director, AYUSH-DH&FW on Saturday said AYUSH, which is regarded as a single entity to many; in actuality has five streams which include Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy.

It stated that rest of the states in India has segregated the post of MO for the five streams under AYUSH.

Besides, with more students opting for AYUSH system of medicine and taking into consideration the push given by the Government of India, the Association has urged the Nagaland health department to segregate the post of MO, AYUSH to system specific.

It also reminded that a representation on this issue was given to MD (NHM) who had forwarded the letter to SPO (NAM). However, with no response forthcoming, the Association said it would be compelled to go the legal route if the health department continues to ignore their demands.
